We learn yoga asana in a restorative mode - exploring yoga as a complimentary healing modality for an array of injuries loosely termed RSI (repetitive stress injuries). In addition to learning yogic breath, balance and relaxation, we will build on four “anatomical” themes: length up the spine; openness in the shoulder girdle; length out the arms; and full, open, juicy joints (wrists, elbows and shoulders).

About Maki Gilman
Maki began her Iyengar Yoga studies in 1997. She began teaching Yoga for Moms after her son was born in the spring of 2004. Throughout her birthing experience, Maki found inspiration in how yoga increased awareness between her mind, body and spirit. Maki has been especially touched by how moms benefit from the meditative aspects of yoga.
I have been practicing Hatha Yoga for 11 years in the SF bay area. In the last 4 years I have been focusing on learning and teaching Hatha Yoga in the Iyengar tradition. After many injuries from life in general and faulty practice I found Iyengar Yoga to be the safest, most effective style but not necesarily the easiest. Iyengar Yoga is based on the 8 limbs (Ashtanga) of Yoga according to Patanjali, so the YogAsana is only a fraction of the practice. the 8 limbs encompessess all i need to live. So when i need help i can turn to Yoga to find my way back to the Path.
